Something to look forward to in training
About Kay
Kay has spent a lifetime in the equine world.
She got her first horse when she was 15. A Half Morgan. "He took advantage of me in every way," she remembers. "I grew up very fast with that horse and I often wish I still had him".
In her early days riding jumpers and showing Morgans, she was multi-disciplined but always had a love of Pleasure and Competitive Driving. She has now been an Equine Canada Licensed driving instructor for more than 20 years.
Kay has continuously evolved in her horsemanship, embracing different breeds, disciplines, and learning continuously from her human and equine clients. Lately she has been offering breeding and foaling services at her facility.
Through the countless demonstrations, clinics, and driving shows Kay and her family have facilitated over the decades, collectively they have done a great service in promoting the love of carriage driving to the larger community.

The Facility
Nestled in the Fraser Valley, just outside of Vancouver, Veinotte Horse Farm has a magnificent view of the mountains in nearby Golden Ears Provincial Park. The Veinotte Horse farm is situated on 11 scenic acres.
The farm has a 15 stall barn with several foaling stalls, an exerciser, and a 98' x 170' outdoor arena. The large turnout field can be opened for driving obstacles.
All the neighbours in the surrounding sub-division are used to seeing Minis, Friesians, and all manner of competition and vintage carriages on their roads. They are particularly delighted by the Christmas Parade practices!
Kay's husband, Tom, and son, Charlie, play a major role in the horse farm and related activities. The German Shepherds also play a part in the day-to-day operations and in some of the lessons and horse training.
What people are saying
I had the opportunity to participate in an intensive 2 month driving training with Kay. With her varied teaching methods, great horsemanship experience, combined with diverse learning scenarios, I was able to advance quickly. I went from a very nervous novice with only a little driving experience to confidently hitching and driving a pair off property. It is one of my favourite life experiences to date and I would highly recommend Kay to anyone who wants to learn or advance their skills.
Kay has an uncanny way of understanding how horses think and react, which makes her a very effective horse trainer. She also has a keen eye for the human animal, and should you become her student, you will benefit greatly.
Kay has progressively taught us to drive and train a variety of Mini horses with different temperaments, in various hitch formations (single, pair, Unicorn, Tandem and Team) at a pace suitable for both ourselves and our horses. Our progress had been well within our capability and suitable for our age and physical ability – making the experience both pleasurable and safe.
